PUBLIC STATEMENT
Defeat Multiple System Atrophy Australia Ltd wish to bring it to the public’s attention that we have been trading as traded as and been colloquially known as Multiple System Atrophy Australia for a considerable period of time; and thought it prudent to formalise the business name on 16 July 2024 to register the business name formally with the Australian Securities Investment Commission. It has been brought to our attention by our supporters and by members of the community that Mr Philip Fortier, a former director of our company has been contacting members under the guise of a deceptively similar company incorporated for the purposes of competing with our activities and likely diverting funding overseas. Mr Philip Fortier ceased in his position in circumstances in which our company, and our directors, believed that he was acting in a manner contrary to his obligations pursuant to the Corporations Act 2001 (CTH) and at common law. It is our opinion that Mr Philip Fortier’s continued conduct is in direct breach of his ongoing duties pursuant to the Corporations Act and at common law by doing so. If you have been or are contacted by Mr Fortier and have concerns, we encourage you to reach out to us. The Facebook page Multiple System Atrophy Australia is purporting to be our organisation. This page is controlled by Mr Fortier and his associated organisations. We do not have control of this page and all posts and content are not associated with our organisation. We have been unsuccessful in regaining access to the account. You will note all associated links and emails are directed to the defeat MSA alliance, not Multiple System Atrophy Australia. We are disappointed that the Australian community are being misled and deceived by these actions and we are doing everything in our power to ensure that our community is protected. We reiterate that Multiple System Atrophy Australia is not associated with any other entities, and we do not operate under any similar names. If you are contacted by an organisation and are unsure if this is us, please contact us at info@msaa.org.au. We will continue to work within the Australian Community and concentrate our efforts on supporting Australian families touched by this horrible disease. We thank you for your continued support and if you have any questions, please direct those to us at info@msaa.org.au
